Here the Calacatta Sugar palette turns its warmest, its golden and amber hues and soft ochre undertones carried across small one-inch hexagons finished by tumbling to an antiqued matte with gently rounded edges. The honeycomb geometry sets up a quiet, repeating rhythm, while the worn surface diffuses light and lends the stone an authentic, hand-touched warmth rather than a machined gloss. At 299 mm the sheet keeps the cells small and closely jointed. That density of joints, combined with the tumbled texture, gives real slip resistance, so the mosaic suits bathroom floors and wet rooms as readily as splashbacks and textural feature walls in heritage or grand entrance schemes. It bridges classical and contemporary equally well, grounding a space with earthy luminosity. Produced from our own blocks and calibrated per sheet, the hexagons align predictably across large orders, keeping the honeycomb even while the tumbled finish leaves each small tile with its own worn character.

- Honed, polished, tumbled or brushed — which finish should you specify?Specify honed for interior floors, tumbled or brushed where the surface gets wet, and polished only where there is no slip requirement. All four start from the same slab; the finish changes grip, how visibly it wears, and how often it needs sealing — not the stone itself.
- Marble or travertine — which should you specify?Specify marble where a polished, low-absorption surface matters, and travertine where texture, grip and warmth matter more. Marble absorbs about 0.15% of its weight in water against travertine at roughly 2.6%, but the two overlap in compressive strength — porosity and strength are separate properties.
