Limestone - Dolomite Fan / Scallop Honed Marble Mosaic Tile
Marble / Beige
This fan mosaic pairs two pale stones for a softer, tonal take on the Art Deco scallop: sweeping arcs formed by the luminous, pristine purity of Dolomite marble, framing the fossil-rich, sandy warmth of Shellstone limestone. Rather than bold colour contrast, the interplay here is one of texture and subtle tone — crisp white curves against organic beige. A honed finish keeps both stones velvety and matte, diffusing light for a serene, architectural calm. With no fixed sheet size, the scallop repeat scales from detail to statement runs. The matte, slip-aware surface makes it well suited to bathroom floors and wet rooms as well as textural splashbacks and feature walls in drawing rooms and grand entrance halls. Producing from selected Dolomite and Shellstone in our own facilities, we calibrate each sheet so the arcs align and the two stones read cleanly across large runs — decisive on a curved pattern where any misalignment breaks the sweep.
Read Before You Specify
- Honed, polished, tumbled or brushed — which finish should you specify?Specify honed for interior floors, tumbled or brushed where the surface gets wet, and polished only where there is no slip requirement. All four start from the same slab; the finish changes grip, how visibly it wears, and how often it needs sealing — not the stone itself.
- Marble or travertine — which should you specify?Specify marble where a polished, low-absorption surface matters, and travertine where texture, grip and warmth matter more. Marble absorbs about 0.15% of its weight in water against travertine at roughly 2.6%, but the two overlap in compressive strength — porosity and strength are separate properties.
