The rustic edge tempers the drama here: square tesserae of Nero Marquina — a formidable charcoal-black fractured by jagged white calcite fissures and subtle fossil inclusions — their perimeters deliberately chipped so the strict grid loosens into raw, organic fluidity. A honed finish gives the stone a velvety, light-absorbing matte that softens the veining into moody, curated friction rather than gloss. Supplied mesh-backed on a 305 mm sheet, the format wraps columns and feature walls readily. The high-friction honed face and dense joints lift underfoot traction, while the antiqued edges quietly camouflage the impacts and daily wear that would quickly mar a sharp-edged gloss tile. It suits atmospheric wall cladding in grooming suites, wet-bar floorscapes in culinary flagships and intimate, high-impact zones. Producing from selected Nero Marquina in our own facilities, we calibrate each sheet so the squares and their rustic edges read consistently across large runs.

Read Before You Specify
- Honed, polished, tumbled or brushed — which finish should you specify?Specify honed for interior floors, tumbled or brushed where the surface gets wet, and polished only where there is no slip requirement. All four start from the same slab; the finish changes grip, how visibly it wears, and how often it needs sealing — not the stone itself.
- Marble or travertine — which should you specify?Specify marble where a polished, low-absorption surface matters, and travertine where texture, grip and warmth matter more. Marble absorbs about 0.15% of its weight in water against travertine at roughly 2.6%, but the two overlap in compressive strength — porosity and strength are separate properties.
