Nero Marquina Select Honed Black Marble Wall & Floor Tiles
Marble / Black
Ink-black and uncompromising, Nero Marquina Select is geological drama in field-tile form: a canvas of pure midnight obsidian dissected by jagged, lightning-bright calcite veining and subtle fossil fragments, raw and refined at once. A honed finish subdues the natural gloss to a velvet-matte skin that absorbs ambient light, so the sharp white striations command attention without overwhelming a room. Available from 100 mm tiles up to 600 x 600 mm, it scales from detail to broad coverage. The honed matte conceals the scuffs that heavy footfall leaves on polished black and lifts underfoot traction — suiting moody Michelin washrooms, monolithic financial-institution reception desks, boutique-hotel lobby floors and sensory members'-club interiors. Producing from selected Nero Marquina in our own facilities, we sequence and calibrate the tiles so the calcite veining flows across large runs, matched so a dark expanse reads as one deep, continuous field.

Read Before You Specify
- Honed, polished, tumbled or brushed — which finish should you specify?Specify honed for interior floors, tumbled or brushed where the surface gets wet, and polished only where there is no slip requirement. All four start from the same slab; the finish changes grip, how visibly it wears, and how often it needs sealing — not the stone itself.
- Marble or travertine — which should you specify?Specify marble where a polished, low-absorption surface matters, and travertine where texture, grip and warmth matter more. Marble absorbs about 0.15% of its weight in water against travertine at roughly 2.6%, but the two overlap in compressive strength — porosity and strength are separate properties.
