Where its honed sibling stays matte, this Nero Marquina Select is finished to a full polish, and the drama sharpens: a velvety, midnight-black canvas fractured by brilliant, lightning-like veins of crystalline white, the immaculate surface catching light to illuminate the stone's depth and regal opulence. The stark contrast reads bolder and more theatrical than the matte version. Available from 100 mm tiles up to 600 x 600 mm, it scales from detail to sweeping expanses. Best where it stays largely dry, the polished black lays an unforgettable floor across a grand entrance hall, turns a master bathroom into a moody, theatrical sanctuary, and makes a show-stopping splashback or a monumental feature wall in a study or living area. Producing from selected Nero Marquina in our own facilities, we sequence and calibrate the tiles so the white veining flows convincingly across large runs — decisive on a reflective black where matched slabs read as one continuous surface.

Read Before You Specify
- Honed, polished, tumbled or brushed — which finish should you specify?Specify honed for interior floors, tumbled or brushed where the surface gets wet, and polished only where there is no slip requirement. All four start from the same slab; the finish changes grip, how visibly it wears, and how often it needs sealing — not the stone itself.
- Marble or travertine — which should you specify?Specify marble where a polished, low-absorption surface matters, and travertine where texture, grip and warmth matter more. Marble absorbs about 0.15% of its weight in water against travertine at roughly 2.6%, but the two overlap in compressive strength — porosity and strength are separate properties.
